I’ve never thrived with too much structure. If there’s no room for freedom and play my brain shuts down. That’s why my movement practice is open ended. I don’t come to my mat with a set routine because I have learned that no day is the same for me. I meet myself where I’m at and move from there. I play a song and let my body get inspired my the music and my mood.

If my body wants to dance - I dance.

If my body wants to stretch - I stretch

If my body wants to feel strong - I strengthen..

I have been feeling a sense of heaviness the last few days. There’s a shift of energy in the air as we head towards fall. In all honesty, I’ve been super sad, tired, and lonely in a way I can’t really describe.

After chatting openly with friends/family, students, and co-workers, it became clear that I’m not alone at all.

Change, transitions, and closing of chapters can bring intense emotions—emotions that feel strange or unwanted. But it’s all part of life baby (huge reminder to myself as well)...

I need to shake things up in order to slow down. And sometimes that’s just what the body needs. This is how I process emotions. And funny enough it’s how I ground myself. It feels like venting with my body. Letting out the rage. The sadness. The frustration. The confusion. The anxiety. Then comes more clarity and compassion.

I do this by tapping into my sensuality because I feel most myself when I move this way. It’s a way for me to remember that I am home. That I am powerful. That I am capable. That I am safe. That I am enough...

I’ve spent a lot of this year fighting with the fire within me. The fire that wants to move bigger, share more, and connect deeper.

But this was also the year I truly started to fall more in love with the way I move. Not only in the way I move physically, but the way I move through life mentally and spiritually.

I feel like we forget that growth isn’t always so tangible.

It’s those behind the door quiet moments where a lot of the magic happens...

Me in my ovulatory phase:
- feeling bold, sexy, and free
- lots of energy
- social and motivated
- craving a dance party / taking a dance class

Me in my luteal phase:
- time to go inward
- alone time and reflection
- deep breathing and stretching
- intuitive free flowing movement

I have found that the more I listen and honor my cycle symptoms, the more harmony I feel in my life AND more empowered I feel as a woman...
